Winemaker Chuck Carlson, who has been making Rhone-style wines locally for 20 years, is passionate about Syrah and its ability to express the uniqueness and character of individual vineyards. Each site featured in our Vineyard Series Syrah program is differentiated in elevation, soil type, trellising and clonal selection. The resulting wines capture the uniqueness, versatility and excellence of the Santa Ynez Valley as a premier appellation for world-class Syrahs.

As one of only a handful of California wineries exclusively dedicated to Rhone varietals and Rhone-style wines, we complement our Syrah program with limited-production bottlings of Viognier, Roussanne, Mourvedre and Grenache. These wines hail from our estate vineyards, as well as select local vineyards in Santa Barbara County's Santa Ynez Valley.

CURTIS HERITAGE SERIES

Inspired by the pleasurable table wines of the southern Rhone Valley, Winemaker Chuck Carlson established the Curtis Heritage Series to craft unique, flavorful cuvees for everyday enjoyment. These wines ultimately represent an unmatched value for premium appellation Rhone-style blends, garnering eight gold medals at major competitions in 2002.
